Middle Grade Book
Sage and the Journey of Grief
Until her mum passed away, grief was as foreign to Sage as the countries she travelled to. With her faithful dog Snowy by her side, Sage explores and experiences the stages of grief.
Joined by her dad, Sage navigates the winding road of loss with her butterfly-covered journal. As her dad would say, “There’s no right way to grieve”. He’s there to help her navigate it in her own space and time.
Sage quickly learns she’s not alone in losing someone she loves. Between school, soccer and grief, life is a balancing act. She’s unsure how to tackle everything at once, but the journey is unfolding one page at a time.

Liv Lorkin Designs
A warm welcome from Wollongong, I’m Liv. I write and illustrate fun and purposeful children’s books. I work with brands and businesses to create engaging designs that align with my client’s creative aspirations.
I’m open to creative projects with clients that value clear communication, achievable deliverables and healthy design practices. This means I only take on projects that fit with my values and availability.
Examples of creative projects I’m excited to work on include: book illustrations, flat lays, brand illustrations and digital artwork.
When I’m not out illustrating on Dharawal land I can be found exploring gardens, finishing a good puzzle and drinking my third cup of tea.

Never worked with an illustrator before? Or looking for the lowdown on my processes? I’ve answered all your common questions here. Have something else you want to know? Get in contact with me.

My fee depends on the scale of work and can change with the type of licensing a client might need for illustration work. Most clients come to me with a minimum budget of $2k. The standard guide for authors’ and illustrators pay rates can be found here.
Normally I follow a scalable 5 step process for my projects. I believe every stage is equally important, for me as illustrator to achieve the best possible outcome and for my clients to achieve their project objective. The stages are listed below:
- Briefing
- Moodboard and colour palette
- Design outlines
- Design refinement
- Handover
No, I don’t offer royalty only illustration work. I’m open to a upfront fee and royalty licensing contract.
Great question! This really depends on the body of work and number of pages. As a guide a 32 page detailed children’s book can take 2-12 months depending on the revisions with editors and publishing houses.
It’s always an honour to be asked to draw family, pets and loved ones. However, I don’t offer this as a service. I only work with brands, businesses and authors on a commercial scale. This means many people can enjoy my work.
