Beyond the Cover: Get a sample of Sage’s Journey of Grief
If you’re here reading this, it’s likely that a little person you love—and perhaps even you—is navigating the path of grief. It can often feel like an overwhelming and never-ending journey of emotions, yet it’s one that, at some point during our lives, we all take.
For me and many children in Australia, I walked that path earlier than I ever would have liked. I come from a line of motherless-daughters; my mum lost her mum at the age of 7, and I lost my mum at the age of 1. I am no stranger to grief, and at the age of 12, I lost my Pa, who had housed and helped raise me since my mum’s passing.
I wrote Sage’s story for all the children like myself, struggling during childhood with losing people they love. Whether it be a parent, guardian, sibling, grandparent, and so on, Sage’s journey explores friendship, self-discovery, and the healing power of vulnerability.
The story follows Sage as she navigates school, soccer, life, and grief after losing her mum. As her dad would say, “There’s no right way to grieve.” He’s there to help her navigate it in her own space and time.
Each chapter follows Sage’s journey, accompanied by illustrations that depict her experiences and stages of grief, like passport stamps in her butterfly-covered journal. Sage knows she’s not alone with her little fluffy white dog and Dad by her side.
I hope Sage’s story brings comfort to all the little readers that need it.
As a gift to all, I’ve included the first three chapters of Sage’s journey as a sample for you and your loved ones to read at home. Enter your name and email below and you’ll receive a PDF copy. If you’d like to purchase the paperback version for your little readers you can order here.
I sincerely appreciate your support and I extend my heartfelt condolences to all those going through grief.
Yours,
Liv Lorkin
